Athena Hollins Primary Win: A Letter to Supporters
We knew something big was happening when we started to see the in-person results for the primary election come in. Just before midnight on Election Day, it was confirmed. With all precincts reporting Tuesday evening, the election has been called and I will be the next DFL candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives for 66B.
We have known for a long time that we were building something special together. It started early last summer when I began talking to neighbors about our need to make big changes at the Capitol and to do the most important organizing work of our lives for the election in November. We built a powerful coalition of neighbors, labor, environmentalists, progressives, and community members who believe in a Minnesota where we can all thrive.
I also want to take this opportunity to say thank you. Campaigns are won by communities, not just candidates — and this election was a particularly heavy lift. From the bottom of my heart, I’m so grateful for everyone who stepped up to knock doors, make calls, talk to friends, send texts, or contributed financially. While I am ecstatic that we get to spend today celebrating, there is still so much more work to do before the most important election of our lives this November.
We’re going to continue to do big things together — organizing, strengthening our communities, and fighting for our values. I’m honored to be your DFL candidate.
In solidarity,
Athena Hollins
